The current value of a Bitcoin is currently £78.92 ($126) on 10th October 2013, the market rate of an unique electronic file. In this chapter the propensity to trade this unique digital file known as a Bitcoin and the notion of value shared within the Bitcoin community is explored as is the current environment for trade and business.
Venkatesh and Davis (1996) technology acceptance model (TAM) and further models of trust in an online environment are discussed to offer a theoretical model which will frame the rest of the paper.
